david bowie ‘fill your heart’ lyrics gratitude

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

wow. i love this song and didn’t fully listen until today. so great: “gentleness is everywhere” and “gentleness clears the soul.” it’s from “hunky dory.” makes me breathe lighter.

Fill Your Heart

Fill your heart with love today
Don’t play the game of time
Things that happened in the past
Only happened in your mind
Only in your mind, forget your mind
And you’ll be free, yeah

The writing’s on the wall
Free, yeah. And you can know it all
If you choose. Just remember
Lovers never lose
‘Cause they are free of thoughts unpure
And of thoughts unkind
Gentleness clears the soul
Love cleans the mind
And makes it free.

Oh happiness is happening
The dragons have been bled
Gentleness is everywhere
Fear’s just in your head
Only in your head
Fear is in your head
Only in your head
So forget your head
And you’ll be free

The writing’s on the wall
Free, yeah. And you can know it all
If you choose. Just remember
Lovers never lose
‘Cause they are free of thoughts unpure
And of thoughts unkind
Gentleness clears the soul
Love cleans the mind
And makes it free

joni mitchell lyrics gratitude

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

yes, i am listening to parts of “blue” on a saturday night alone. but it makes me so happy-sad. oh, joni.

(ok, whew, the next song is kool and the gang, but these lyrics are still gorgeous.)

“I remember that time that you told me, you said
Love is touching souls
Surely you touched mine
Cause part of you pours out of me
In these lines from time to time

Oh you are in my blood like holy wine
And you taste so bitter but you taste so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you
I could drink a case of you darling
Still I’d be on my feet
And still be on my feet”

- joni mitchell, “case of you”

I then realized how distracted I had become, and with a gold Sharpie, I wrote above the function row on my laptop, “Are you procrastinating?” I then went back and finished the article.

7) that i’m going to the peter max gallery tomorrow

The earth couldn’t afford to send any recruiters or limos to your school. It sent you rain, sunsets, ripe cherries, night blooming jasmine, and that unbelievably cute person you are dating. Take the hint. And here’s the deal: Forget that this task of planet-saving is not possible in the time required. Don’t be put off by people who know what is not possible. Do what needs to be done, and check to see if it was impossible only after you are done.” whole thing here.
