january 20, 2009 gratitude

on this day when we hand over the keys to someone who knows how to drive, or at least wants to know how to drive, who aims to keep the car on the road at least, not ramming other vehicles or cutting people off just cuz, who realizes cars are real and this is not a test, no, not a test but risking human lives and hearts and who seems to respect that and seems to have a heart himself, and love in his life and family and–whew!–on this day, little one of millions of glad hearts me, i am grateful for:

1) the incredible outpouring
2) the CNN/Facebook interface during the live stream
3) that so many people are so happy tonight
4) malia and sasha
5) isabel toledo’s new mega-fame
6) siggi’s icelandic yogurt (pomegranate passionfruit is my fave so far)
7) that i almost feel like a real journalist when everything is so newsy
8) getting up early to om with dozens of people in bryant park this morning so we could send obama some peaceful sound vibrations. i love my fellow yoga nuts and people with hearts wild enough to believe, to sit in the middle of an ice-skating rink in the freezing cold on raft of yoga mats oming all the way to washington, dc. you can see it here.
9) really trying to get-get the notion of not giving away my power just to be liked
10) buh-bye, mr. bush. hope ya had a lovely flight.

Wow, that Bryant Park omm was amazing! I didn’t realize people were skating around you while you chanted. All the more joyful. Wow.
